Nights at the Circus - Angela Carter Though there are parts of this book I found (maybe deliberately) confusing, if you like to read about a fantastic traveling circus in the last days of the 19th century, an aerialist with wings & a former sex worker who is also a suffragist & a revolutionary , if you like magical realism, if you like discussions on topics like capitalism, rationalism, feminism or the meaning & implications of modernity, or if you just want a dazzlingly imaginative & very well written fantasy story, you will probably like it. I am not sure if I agree with, or even fully understand everything Angela Carter said in the book, but I do feel that a lot of them are still important and relevant decades after the death of its author.
